Government, China Harbour to sign MOU for damming of Rio Cobre

The government is to sign a memorandum of understanding with China Harbour Engineering Company for a feasibility study for the damming of the Rio Cobre in the Bog Walk Gorge.

The works ministry says this is one of the projects China Harbour’s parent company is exploring to assess the possibility of expanding the water supply and the provision of hydroelectric power.

The agreement is to be signed today at the Ministry of Transport and Works.

It’s to be signed by the works ministry, the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining; Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change and China Harbour Engineering Company.
