Some St Thomas farmers selling receipts to farm thieves

Farmers in St Thomas are reportedly carrying on a thriving business by selling receipts and receipt booklets for agricultural products to criminals.

superintendent of police in St Thomas Merrick Watson says the practice is helping to drive praedial larceny.

Speaking at a recent public forum in Morant Bay, Superintendent Watson disclosed that investigations have revealed that some receipts originating in St Thomas have been traced to as far as St Ann.

He said this destructive practice must stop.

Only recently Resident Magistrate Jennes Anderson issued a warning to persons carrying agricultural produce, that they should ensure that they have agricultural receipts for the products, as they will be fined or sent to prison.
