Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers described his side’s 2-1 victory over West Ham in the English Premier League yesterday as a brilliant all-round performance.

Steven Gerrard scored two penalties as the Reds moved back to the top of the English Premier League.

Liverpool have been awarded 12 Premier League penalties this season - more than any other team in the division.

The win pushes Liverpool to 74 points, two ahead of Chelsea on 73, while Manchester City hold down third place on 70 points.

Meanwhile, Everton took a step closer to fulfilling Roberto Martinez's pre-season promise of Champions League football as they swept past Arsenal 3-0 yesterday to move a point behind the fourth-placed Gunners.
