FOOTBALL: Waterhouse look set to return to Premiership lead

Published:Monday | April 7, 2014 | 8:43 AM

Waterhouse are highly fancied to return to the top of the Red Stripe Premier League when the country’s top flight football competition resumes today with its Monday Night fixture.

Waterhouse, who were relegated from first to third following five matches in Match Day 28 yesterday, will host relegation bound Rivoli United at the Drewsland Stadium.

The match, which represents the final fixture of Match Day 28, is scheduled to begin at 8:30 in the evening.

Victory for Waterhouse would see the Drewsland-based team atop the standings again.

Rivoli United are fighting relegation and enter tonight’s fixture second-from-the-bottom on 31 points.

Meanwhile, Montego Bay United beat Sporting Central Academy 1-0 at Wespow Park yesterday to return to winning ways following consecutive defeats.

The victory means that Montego Bay United have returned to the top of the standings.

They are on 48 points, one ahead of defending champions Harbour View, who scored a 3-0 home win over Portmore United.

Arnett Gardens stayed on course for a top four finish and a semi-final spot following a 3-0 home victory over Humble Lion.

In other games Tivoli Gardens and Boys’ Town battled to a goalless draw at the Edward Seaga Complex, while Cavalier beat bottom place August Town 1-0 at the Stadium East field.
