JUTC aiming to 'get rid of illegal transport operators'

Published:Tuesday | April 8, 2014 | 1:58 PM

The head of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company's (JUTC) revenue protection arm, retired senior superintendent of police, Radcliffe Lewis, says the company will immediately begin its phased programme to get rid of illegal transport operators.

Lewis says the JUTC will target one area at a time until the entire Kingston Metropolitan Transit Region is free of illegal operators.

One of the areas Lewis says will be targeted is the Papine to Half-Way Tree route.

Lewis says the JUTC’s aim is to become a model for public transportation in the Caribbean.
