NETBALL: Jamaica on course to win Youth title

The 2014 Jean Pierre Youth Netball Tournament in Antigua takes a one-day break today but returns tomorrow with title favourite Jamaica heavily fancied to protect their perfect record.



The Jamaicans, who have won three straight games, will take on Barbados in one of five games on tomorrow's fourth day of action.



The young Sunshine Girls secured their third victory last night by whipping Trinidad and Tobago 51-2.



Goal shooter Simone Gordon led Jamaica to the victory with 32 points from 40 attempts.



Idara McCarty chipped in the 8 from 11, while Nicole Lewis had 5 from 7, Tracy Francis 5 from 9 and Shanique Francis 1 from 3.



T&T took only three shots for the entire game.



In the morning session, Jamaica's Sunshine Girls secured another easy victory by defeating St Lucia 48-5.



Goal shooter Tracy Francis led Jamaica with 36 goals from 45 attempts, while goal attacker Nicole Lewis had 5 from 8 and Klara McCarty scored 7 from 8.



St Lucia only had five shots all from goal shooter Kamala Mangal.



She scored five of those five shots.



Jamaica defeated Dominica 55-14 in their opening game on Monday.



The competition takes a one-day break today and returns tomorrow with five matches.
