Police High Command hits back at Vybz Kartel attorney

The Police High Command says there is no truth to claims by the lead attorney for Vybz Kartel, Tom Tavares-Finson, that Police Commissioner Owen Ellington has sought to prejudice the entertainer’s appeal.

Yesterday, Tavares-Finson blasted Ellington over claims that Vybz Kartel is a gang leader, whose gang has been linked to more than 100 murders.

The attorney charged that the police commissioner is part of a plot to discredit his client.

However, in its rebuttal, the high command says it is evident that Tavares-Finson is the only one in Jamaica who is oblivious of the modus operandi of the Gaza Empire led by his client and the trail of blood they left behind in their activities.

In a statement, the high command further said the comments by the police commissioner are nothing new.

Meanwhile, the Police High Command has raised doubts about the character of experts being offered by Tavares-Finson to the police.

Tavares-Finson had said he is prepared to provide the police commissioner with experts who can help to identify the areas in which investigators involved in the Clive Williams murder case went wrong.

However, the high command says it has no desire at the time to take any help from experts who were engaged by the defence in the Vybz Kartel murder trial.
