NSWMA gets $20 million to repair roadway to Riverton dump

Published:Friday | April 11, 2014 | 2:53 PM

The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) is to be provided with $20 million to carry out repairs to two kilometres of roadway along the access road to the Riverton City dump in St Andrew.

The funds are being provided by the Government of Mexico and will be allocated through the 2014-2015 Estimates of Expenditure.

The scope of work includes preparation of the existing road surface; construction of drains along the roadway; construction of the concrete pavement; and maintenance of the concrete pavement.

It is expected that this will improve the utilisation of the dump and reduce down-time and operating costs for garbage trucks.

The project is slated to begin this month and should run through to March, next year.
