St Mary teacher arrested after punching colleague in the face over sports day scores

ST MARY, Jamaica:

A Port Maria Primary School teacher in St Mary is to appear in court next week on charges of assaulting a colleague over Sports Day scores.




Clovis Menzies, 33, of Priory, St Ann, was arrested and charged by the Port Maria Police for assault occasioning actual bodily harm following a complainant by Donald Parson, 56, of Hazelwood Drive in Highgate, St Mary.



The St Mary Police Commander, Superintendent Dean Johnson, said while Sports Day scores were being calculated, the teachers got into a fight in front of pupils and parents.



"It was alleged that while they argued, Mr Menzies punched Mr Parson on the right side of his face causing swelling and an abrasion,” Johnson reported.



Menzies is scheduled to appear in the Port Maria Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday April 17, 2014.
