High-end motor vehicles being seized by police

Published:Saturday | April 12, 2014 | 12:40 PM

A series of coordinated operations targeting what local law enforcement agencies believe are illegally imported high-end motor vehicles are now underway across the Corporate Area and three other parishes.

The operations, which are being led by the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption agency (MOCA) and the Revenue Protection Division of the Ministry of Finance (RPD) have already netted 10 motor vehicles.

These include a Range Rover, a BMW X-5 and a BMW motorcar.

The Gleaner-Power 106 News Centre understands that the pre-dawn operations across Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, St Elizabeth and St Ann come after months of investigations by MOCA and the RPD.

Investigators charge that these vehicles were imported contrary to the Customs Act and could be forfeited to the State.
