FORT DE FRANCE, Martinique (CMC):

The opening day of CARIFTA Games 2014 will be highlighted by what many expect to be a super clash in the boys’ Under-20 100 metres dash.

Anguillian defending champion Zharnel Hughes, who ran a personal best 10.12 to win at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships for Kingston College (KC) late last month, and Jamaica’s Jevaughn Minzie, who was second to in 10.16, are the ones to beat.

Hughes, who pulled out of the 200m at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships, confirmed he will do the sprint double, while Minzie said his time in Kingston showed he can win gold here in Martinique.
