The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is advising that a fire, confined to the tipping face of the dump has been reported. The fire which extends across 15 acres of the dump has since been contained.

Despite windy conditions and the prevailing water shortage that is being experience in the Corporate Area, the situation remains under control as a multi-agency coordinated response in currently in effect.

Persons who generally use this area are again being urged to avoid the area where possible, or to exercise extreme caution to mitigate against undue exposure. The national and parish response mechanisms remain on standby should conditions escalate.
