CRICKET: Jamaica qualifies for Regional Four-day finals in St Lucia

Jamaica suffered a dramatic batting collapse but held on to defeat Barbados by one wicket today at Kensington Oval to qualify for the finals of the Regional Four-day tournament.

Jamaica will now play the Windward Islands in the championship match for the Headley/Weeks Trophy in St Lucia from Saturday.

Chasing 167 for victory, Jamaica reached their target in the first session of play after losing nine wickets in a tense semi-final.

Jamaica were 106 for two overnight, just 61 runs away from victory.

Kevin Stoute picked up five wickets while Sulieman Benn grabbed three.

Final scores in the match: Barbados 245 and 223; Jamaica 302 and 167 for nine.

The Windward Islands stormed into the final by crushing Trinidad and Tobago by 234 runs inside three days at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.
