Portland family picking up the pieces after fire

Published:Monday | April 28, 2014 | 8:18 AM

A Portland family is this morning trying to recover from yesterday’s loss of their three-bedroom house in a fire.

Among those affected are three students who were preparing for this morning’s reopening of school after the Easter holiday.

Fire officials have not yet determined the cause of the blaze.

Twenty-three-year-old Donique Crooks is fighting to come to grips with the losses for her seven-year-old daughter and her two 12-year-old brothers.

She says no one was at home during the blaze.

The Mayor of Port Antonio, Benny White, has committed to helping the three students with uniforms.
