Jamaica go in search of more medals at Rifle Championships

Host nation Jamaica will go in search of more medals when the 2014 West Indies Target Rifle Championships resume today at the JDF Range at Twickenham Park.



Today' second day features shooting over ranges of 300, 500 and 1,000 yards.



Jamaica secured a gold and a silver medal on the opening day.



Marksmen David Rickman and Claude Russell secured the medals for Jamaica.



Rickman won the gold medal.



His gold medal came in the 900-yard range competition.



The top shooter, scored 48 with 3 V’s for first place, beating Canadian, Alpar Katona who scored 48 with 2 V’s to take the silver.



Anderson Perry of Antigua, who shot 48 with 2 V’s, won the bronze.



The silver medal for Jamaica came on the 600-yard range. Russell shot 48 with 4 V’s to finish second behind Norris Gomez of Trinidad & Tobago who shot 50 with 5 V’s.



The Championships are being contested by shooters from six Caribbean Islands and a goodwill team from Canada.



The competition will run until Saturday.
