KINGSTON, Jamaica:

The woman who was stabbed by a man said to be her boyfriend at the intersection of Johns Lane and North Street, downtown Kingston, earlier today, has succumbed to her injuries.

She was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital, however, efforts to save her life proved futile.

Her identity has not yet been released by the police.

Her boyfriend who attempted to end his life, jumping in front of a moving vehicle, was caught and beaten by angry residents.

The man and a bloody knife, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, were later handed over to the police.

Eyewitnesses say the two appeared to have been arguing as they walked along North Street.

Moments later, one eyewitness said, the man forced the woman into a nearby vacant lot where she was stabbed repeatedly.

The eyewitness said the man then jumped in front of a passing vehicle in an apparent attempt to end his life.

However, he was quickly set upon by angry residents and beaten before he was handed over to the police.
