The police have identified the woman who was stabbed by a man said to be her boyfriend at the intersection of Johns Lane and North Street in downtown Kingston, earlier today.

She has been identified as 32-year-old, Kadian Oshane, of 116 Penwood Road, Kingston.

Oshane succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital.

Eyewitnesses say the woman and her boyfriend appeared to have been arguing as they walked along North Street.

Moments later, one eyewitness said, the man forced the woman into a nearby vacant lot where she was stabbed repeatedly.

The eyewitness said the man then jumped in front of a passing vehicle in an apparent attempt to end his life.

However, he was quickly set upon and beaten by angry residents.

The man and a bloody knife, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, were later handed over to the police.
