Pork prices to increase Monday

Published:Friday | May 9, 2014 | 9:13 AM

Pig farmers have announced a four per cent increase in the cost of pork and live animals they sell to meat processors and traders.

The president of the Jamaica Pig Farmers’ Association, Delroy Manya, says the increase will take effect on Monday, May 12.

According to Manya, in recent months several players in the pork industry have raised prices, but the primary producers held theirs.

However, Manya says with further increases in input costs, pig farmers are forced to increase the prices for their products.
