Choose the right people for enterprise team - CAPI tells PM

Lobby group Citizens Action for Principle and Integrity (CAPI) is warning the Prime Minister to ensure that the right people are appointed to the enterprise team which will take over the responsibility for the 381 megawatt power plant project.

The six member body, which is to be chaired by Dr Vin Lawrence, was announced on Tuesday by the Energy Minister Phillip Paulwell.

The team was named following public outcry about the energy minister’s handling of the project.

Stressing that the energy project cannot afford any further delays, Co-convener of CAPI Dennis Meadow says committee members must be drawn from a range of expertise in managing major projects.

In announcing the enterprise team, Paulwell said the committee has been instructed to ensure that the Government meets the 2016 timeline for the construction of the energy plant.

The enterprise team will report to the Cabinet.
