3.4 magnitude quake strikes eastern Jamaica

An earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter Scale rattled sections of eastern Jamaica about 8:44 last night.



In a preliminary report, the earthquake unit at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies said the quake’s epicentre was located in Buff Bay in Portland.



The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management said the quake was felt in sections of Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine and parts of Clarendon.

No damage has been reported.
