KINGSTON, Jamaica:

Lobby group, Citizens United to Reduce the Cost of Electricity (CURE) says it believes the decision by the JPS to restrict electricity in some communities is aimed at forcing the Government to take decisive action to deal with electricity theft.

Co-founder of CURE, Richard ‘Dickie’ Crawford has described the move as unusual, high handed and unethical.

And he says it would be a threat to the country if the JPS were allowed to continue with it.

However, he believes the move by the JPS could get the Government to begin examining solutions to the long-standing problem.

According to Crawford, the latest move emphasises the need for solutions to reduce the cost of electricity, especially for the poor.
