Grenada concerned about male drop-out rate

Published:Tuesday | May 13, 2014 | 10:43 AM

The Grenada government says it is concerned that more boys are dropping out of school.

Education Minister Anthony Boatswain says while more male students are successfully transitioning to the secondary level, not enough are sitting CXC or are graduating from high.

Boatswain says more male students are dropping out of school at second and third form due to deviant behavior.

He says this has left a situation where more girls are pursuing further education than boys.

The education minister says the solution to this problem is one for all stakeholders including parents and the various communities in Grenada.
