Clarendon woman charged for attempting to bribe witness in son's case

Fifty-one-year-old Mavis Jackson of Sandy Bay, in May Pen, Clarendon, has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and threatening a crown witness.



The charges relate to a case that involved her son, Dwayne Barrett, who is in police custody for robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of firearm.



According to police reports, the 51-year-old mother, allegedly approached a witness and offered him money to change his statement.



However, the witness refused Jackson’s offer and she allegedly threatened to have him killed.



The matter was reported to the May Pen police and the woman arrested and charged.



She is to appear in the May Pen Resident Magistrate’s Court on May 29, where her case will be mentioned.
