The Local Government Minister Noel Arcott says he is encouraged by the level of interest being shown in Labour Day activities for this year.

This Friday May 23 will be Labour Day and Arscott says this year’s activities will focus on promoting climate change initiatives and crime fighting.

He says 15 police stations that are in need of repairs have been selected as parish projects, while the National Labour Day project is the Portmore Climate Change Park.

The minister has also announced that his ministry will be providing an additional $5 million to assist with the Labour Day Parish projects.

Arscott is urging more people to register their projects by calling the Labour Day Secretariat at the Ministry of Youth and Culture.

He is also encouraging parish councils to mobilise support for the registered parish projects.
