The tax administration department is warning owners of businesses that failure to meet the March 15 deadline for the payment of income tax returns could result in penalties.

The department said estimated income and tax payable returns for 2008 must also be filed before March 15.

Public Relations Director at the department, Merris Haughton, said businesses or self-employed persons would be notified of the fines.

Ms. Haughton said a special taxpayer service programme is currently underway across the island, to assist small business owners to complete their tax returns.
