Teenage robber arrested

A teenager, who attempted to rob a taxi driver at gunpoint on Molynes Road in Kingston yesterday, was taken into custody by the St. Andrew Central police.



Andre Ebanks, 17, of Sterling Avenue, Kingston 11 was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, assault with intent to rob, shooting with intent and unlawful wounding.



The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reports that Ebanks boarded a taxi along Molynes Road, on reaching a section of the roadway, he ordered the driver to stop, pulled a firearm and demanded money from him.



When his demand was not met, he allegedly fired at the driver who held onto the gun. A struggle developed between them and a passer-by saw what was happening, held onto Ebanks and managed to take the gun from him.



He was handed over to the police.
