Herbert Morrison Technical High School's Under-16 and Mannings High's Under-19 teams both earned the right to contest their respective age-group finals in the 2009 KFC Western High School Basketball Competition, after good semi-final wins against William Knibb's junior and senior teams on Tuesday.
In the double-header at the Montego Bay Cricket Club Courts, Herbert Morrison scored a hard-fought 63-48 win against William Knibb in the opening game, while in the senior showdown, Mannings humbled their William Knibb counterparts 110-58.
In the best-of-three Under-16 final, which is slated to begin tomorrow at 2:00 p.m., Herbert Morrison will meet Cornwall College, which advanced to the final on Monday, following their 78-47 semi-final win against Muschette High.
In their Under-16 match against William Knibb, Herbert Morrison's Romaro Daley with 29 points and Daniel Henry, with 21, were the outstanding players. Livon Hamilton, with 19 points and Dexter Alexander, with 18, did well for William Knibb.
In Game One of the Under-19 final, high-riding Herbert Morrison will square off with Mannings, who secured their place in the best-of-three final on Monday with a good 77-65 win over Cornwall College.
In their Under-19 semi-final game against Cornwall, Mannings were well served by Delano Foster and Lenworth Pryce, who scored 20 and 19 points, respectively. Gavin Brown and Christopher Smith, who scored 26 points and 13 points, respectively, led Cornwall in scoring.
