The Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA) will be hosting a one-day used-car flea market at its Central Avenue headquarters in St Andrew tomorrow, starting 10 a.m.

"The aim of the flea market is to create a comfortable environment where buyers and sellers can meet and transact business," said Duane Ellis, general manager of the JAA.

The used-car flea market will be one of the major features of Autofest, an event organised by the JAA with support from the Insurance Association of Jamaica.

"We will be providing an area for sellers to display their vehicles free of charge all day, and will also be welcoming potential car owners to come have a look and even make a deal on the spot," Ellis said.

For potential purchasers, the event will also work in their favour as the JAA's qualified and trained technicians will be on hand to offer advice and conduct checks if necessary.

"There will be ongoing vehicle inspections, tyre and battery checks as well as various experts on hand to share information on how to keep their vehicle in tip-top shape," he said. "And with several general insurance companies on hand, motorists will also be able to look at their options for coverage."

Ellis said persons wishing to sell a motor vehicle at the flea market should arrive at the JAA's headquarters no later than 9 a.m.

"This will allow us to register participants and enable an orderly and organised process for both sellers and potential buyers," he added.
