Several workers at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), whose positions were made redundant last month, are to receive their redundancy packages today.
The last phase of payments was reportedly delayed on Friday due to drawbacks in the processing of cheques.
Vice-President of the University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU), Clifton Grant, said the cheques have been sent to the depots for collection.
He said the 46 workers would receive the sums earned from November 2007 to date, with vacation and severance packages.
The President of the Union of Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees, Danny Roberts, said several workers represented by the union are still to be paid.
Over 300 positions have been made redundant at the JUTC, as part of the company’s staff rationalisation programme.
