The search is on for a new Prime Minister in Haiti, after Prime Minister, Jacques Edouard Alexis was fired from the post on Saturday.
16 opposition senators who charged that Mr. Alexis had not done enough to encourage food production and reduce the cost of living voted him out of office.
His demise came after more than a week of food riots.
Haiti’s President, Rene Preval said the sacking of his Prime Minister was unjust.
However, he announced that his government would lower the price of rice by almost 16 percent.
Five people were killed in street protests over the rising food prices in the country.
