Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica reclaimed the World Championships women’s 100-metre title by winning the final in a world-leading 10.71 in Moscow, Russia a short while ago.



Fraser-Pryce won by a big margin to give Jamaica its second gold medal at the championships.



The double Olympic champion had lost the title in 2011 with a fourth place finish.



The gold medal came 24 hours after Usain Bolt reclaimed the men’s 100-metre title after a false start in 2011.



"It was lots of hard work and commitment, this is what I worked for, this was the year that I was out of school and completely focused on getting this done," Fraser-Pryce said.



"I knew I was doing well in the 100 metre and that I was focused. When I ran that time in the Diamond League in London, I knew then that I was ready. All I had to do was go back and do some more work, also on the start. Most people in the race are closers, when they get to the 70–80 metre mark they are opening up but I knew I had an advantage and that was what I was focused on," she said.



Fraser-Pryce’s Jamaican teammate Kerron Stewart finished fifth in 10.97 in a race where the top five finished under 11 seconds.



Murielle Ahoure of the Ivory Coast took the silver medal in 10.93, while American Carmelita Jeter won the bronze in 10.94.
