After two rounds of the Barclays Premier League there are four teams on maximum points, including Manchester United, who are fourth after successive 1-0 wins, over Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

It is their best start to a season since 2011, when they won their first five league games. United, though, had a distraction on Tuesday when they marked their return to European football with a 3-1 against Club Bruges, of Belgium, in the first leg of a Champions League play-off tie.

Now they return to Premier League action against Newcastle United side still looking for a first win of the season following a draw at home and defeat away last weekend, at Swansea.

If they fail to win at Old Trafford, it will represent Newcastle's worst start to a League season since 2005, when they lost two and drew the other of the first three games without scoring a single goal.

And United have won five of their last six league games against Newcastle, including the last three, and last season Wayne Rooney scored twice in a 3-1 win over the Magpies at Old Trafford.

United are still without defender Phil Jones, with a blood clot in his leg, while Marouane Fellaini remains suspended in the league. They will hope Rooney can end a barren spell of nine games without a goal.
