THE EDITOR, Sir:
The only real tragedy in the defeat suffered by the People's National Party is the loss of the Reverend Ronald Thwaites as minister of education. He was a great humanitarian, patriot, and man of ideas. This grateful nation thanks him for his dedicated and unwavering service and commitment to the people of Jamaica, and generations yet unborn will owe him a debt of tremendous gratitude.
It is such a pity that Jamaica's political system is at such an infantile stage that the incoming Government could not have chosen him to remain as minister.
Job well done, Mr Thwaites! Pay well earned!
