Investigators from the Major Organised and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) yesterday pored over a number of documents at the downtown offices of the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC).

However, there was no indication, up to late last night, of whether the search was related to a major fraud probe being undertaken by MOCA involving the Manchester and Clarendon parish councils and other agencies.

Town Clerk Robert Hill acknowledged, in a short statement, that members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force visited the KSAC's offices to carry out investigations.

"As usual, we cooperated fully. We stand ready to provide any additional information that they require to complete their investigations," Hill said.

Deputy superintendent in charge of road and works at the Manchester Parish Council Sanja Elliott and Mandeville carpenter Dwayne Sibbles were arrested in connection with what investigators at MOCA have alleged is a $9.2 million fraud scheme uncovered at the parish council last month.

Tip of the ice berg

At the time, investigators at MOCA warned that the operations were just the tip of the ice berg.

People's National Party councillors at the Manchester and Clarendon parish councils have blasted the conduct of MOCA investigators during last month's raids, but the KSAC had a different experience.

"We commend MOCA for the professional approach displayed," the KSAC said.
