Two people sustained injuries when a motor car crashed into the glass facade of the departure lounge at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston this morning.
The driver and another person who was sitting in the departure lounge when the vehicle crashed into the glass facade were injured. The driver's injuries are reportedly minor while the extent of the second person's injuries is not known. Their identities have not been released.
It is reported that the driver does not have a licence to operate a vehicle. He remains in police custody and may be charged by the police who are still investigating.
Head of the Police Traffic Division, Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen, says the incident happened about 6:45 a.m. as two brothers, one of whom was the driver, dropped their mother at the airport.
He is reminding drivers to ensure that their engines are switched off before leaving their motor vehicles.
