The polls have now closed in the crucial by-election in the Greater Portmore North Division to determine control of the St Catherine Municipal Corporation.
Accountant Gary Nicholson of the People's National Party (PNP) and school teacher Ann Lewis of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) contested the seat.
A win for the JLP would break the current 20-20 deadlock in the St Catherine Municipal Corporation and see it taking control of the Corporation.
The PNP had won the corporation 21-20 in the local government election.
But with the death of its Greater Portmore North Councillor Michael Edwards, the seat count is now tied.
The Electoral Office of Jamaica says up to 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, voter turnout was at 22.39 per cent.
