The public is being urged to exercise caution when buying scallion.

This after thieves stole 300 pounds of the produce from a farm in Bull Savannah, St Elizabeth that was treated with chemicals.

The theft happened between Wednesday night and yesterday morning.

The scallions were treated with the chemicals two days before the theft.

It takes 14 days for the chemicals to wear off and the scallions can be toxic if consumed before then.
