​A teenage boy has been arrested and charged in connection with one of two illegal firearms seized by the Duhaney Park Police early this morning.

He has been identified as 19-year-old Jevaun Hibbert of Sherlock Crescent, in Duhaney Park, St Andrew.

The police report that a team was on patrol along Sherlock Crescent when they saw a man standing in front of an apartment building with what appeared to be a firearm in his hand.

It’s reported that the man ran into his home on the approach of the police and was chased and apprehended.

The police say a firearm containing six rounds of ammunition was found during a search of the home.

The other weapon was reportedly seized along Loraine Avenue less than 30 minutes later by the same police team.
