The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that residents of Logwood in St Thomas have racked up $8.1 million in outstanding bills in four years.

According to the commission, it has also been battling illegal connections in the community and only recently disconnected thirty supply lines.

The NWC says of the 30 disconnections, it had no record of ever connecting 26 of the lines.

Revenue Recovery Manager, Ferdinand Kennedy, says delinquency and theft contribute significantly to the financial losses that the NWC faces and his department will continue to aggressively deal with the problems as it moves towards operational efficiency. 

He is urging persons illegally connected to the NWC network to visit the agency to regularise their services and says customers should seek to settle balances to avoid lengthy court actions, unnecessary costs and embarrassment.
