The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that effective today, the Mona Road and Wellington Drive intersection in St Andrew will be reduced to single lane traffic.
This is to facilitate the laying of sewer pipes by the National Water Commission (NWC).
It forms part of activities earmarked for the Mona Road Rehabilitation Project, which is currently being undertaken by the NWA.
Due to the works being undertaken, acting communication and customer services manager at the NWA, Janel Ricketts, says motorists travelling towards Mona Road from Wellington Drive may travel via Ottawa Avenue, and then on to Mona Road.
Rickets says the roadway is being rehabilitated at a cost of approximately $76 million under the Major Infrastructure Development Programme.
The scope of works involves extensive drainage improvement, the installation of sidewalks, the creation of an exclusive turning lane from Mona Road unto Aralia Avenue, and the laying of asphaltic concrete on the affected sections of the corridor.
The improvement work is expected to be completed by the end of September.
Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
