A Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor was shot and injured at his business place in Spanish Town, St Catherine this morning.
He is Hawthorne Thompson of the Sydenham Division in St Catherine.
Councillor Thompson has been hospitalised and is said to be doing well.
Member of Parliament for South Central St Catherine, Dr Andrew Wheatley, says the councillor was shot in his side as he was about to close his business place about 1 o' clock this morning.

Both gunmen were reportedly shot and injured by the councillor who is a licensed firearm holder.
The gunmen have been hospitalised where one is said to be in critical condition while the other remains under police guard.
Investigations are ongoing.
