Prelimary work to expand Mandela Highway begins

Preliminary work has begun to expand the Mandela Highway that connects St Andrew and St Catherine.

The work commenced this weekend to expand the dual carriageway to six lanes over a 24-month period.

Communications Manager at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw, explains that the work now taking place is to construct a bridge in the vicinity of the Fresh River.

He says the construction now taking place should not impede traffic, which is expected to peak tomorrow with the start of the new school year.
