First Heritage Co-operative Credit Union (FHC) has officially opened applications for its 2026 Micro & Small Business Entrepreneurship Awards, reaffirming its commitment to empowering innovation and supporting the growth of Jamaica’s next generation of entrepreneurs.

The programme will award three grants valued at $500,000 each to outstanding applicants with viable business ideas or early-stage ventures seeking funding. The initiative forms part of FHC’s continued efforts to stimulate economic development and provide meaningful financial support to emerging business leaders.

Building on the success of last year’s awards, FHC distributed a total of $1.5 million among three entrepreneurs whose ventures demonstrated innovation, sustainability, and growth potential. The 2025 awardees were Shane Miller, owner of Stevos Weavos; Renae McEachron of Breezy Castle Farm; and Sadekie Harriott of The Party Vault. Their businesses reflect the diversity and entrepreneurial spirit that the programme seeks to nurture.

The 2026 awards are open to:

• Final-year university students with at least a B average; and

• Individuals or groups up to age 35.

Applicants may submit proposals for a viable business idea or an existing start-up seeking expansion funding. All submissions must be emailed to firstheritagecu@gmail.com no later than April 30, 2026.

“At FHC, we believe entrepreneurship is a powerful vehicle for financial independence and national development,” said Michelle Tracey, assistant general manager of marketing, communications & member experience. “Through this initiative, we are proud to provide tangible support to innovators who are ready to transform their ideas into sustainable enterprises.”

Interested applicants may contact FHC at 876-929-5142, WhatsApp 876-551-8193, or visit www.fhccu.com for additional information on the Entrepreneurship Awards.
