The St Catherine Parish Court in Spanish Town.

The absence of a forensic certificate from the case file of two men held allegedly with a quantity of cocaine along a section of the Mandela Highway in St Catherine last month resulted in them being further remanded in the parish court today.

Lenroy Ferguson and Donald Baugh are answering to charges of possession of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine, dealing in cocaine, and conspiracy to traffic cocaine.

When the case was mentioned today, it was revealed that the case file was incomplete.

When the duo first appeared in court, the defence was told that the question of bail would be entertained once the certificate was on file.

Presiding Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle indicated today that a further date is needed to address the issue.

The accused were then remanded until May 19, when the matter will again be mentioned.

Allegations are that about 5:25 p.m. on March 4, members of the police’s Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division were on an operation in Ferry, St Catherine, when a car carrying the two accused was stopped and searched.

According to the police, a white powdery substance resembling cocaine was discovered.

Ferguson and Baugh were subsequently arrested and charged.
