Grange appeals for blood for reggae artiste Toots Hibbert
Former Culture Minister Olivia Grange says reggae artiste Toots Hibbert is making steady progress in hospital.
However, she is asking that people donate blood to his account at the University Hospital of the West Indies or the Blood Bank on Slipe Pen Road in Kingston.
According to Grange, for the past few days, Toots' condition has been stable.
"Although Toots is critically ill, he is slowly making steady progress, and is being given all the necessary support," said Grange Tuesday, dismissing reports that the reggae singer had passed.
Grange has asked that people stop spreading the rumour.
"Please display the appropriate respect to Toots and his family. Exercise some sensitivity, keeping in mind that his family is deeply concerned during this most difficult period," she said.
Grange also said she has been in dialogue with the medical team entrusted to care for Hibbert.
"What we all need at this time is a lot of positive thoughts and prayers for Toots' recovery," she added.
