Grammy Award-winning dancehall artiste Shaggy hit the ground running in 2021.

Not only was his 2000 hit It Wasn’t Me featured in a Cheetos Super Bowl LV commercial, alongside Hollywood couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, but he’s also been dabbling in other genres. Not unusual for the global superstar.

Speaking about the Cheetos spot in an interview with Billboard, Shaggy, whose real name is Orville Burrell, said, “This song (It Wasn’t Me) took me on an amazing ride 20 years ago, and it’s still doing some amazing stuff.”

He also made an appearance in British electronic pop music group Clean Bandit’s Higher music video. Shot in Jamaica, the single features Puerto Rican-born rapper and singer Iann Dior.

The video that accompanies the mid-tempo tune shows Dior as a castaway who survives a boat accident and is later pulled from the water by Shaggy, in a King Yellowman T-shirt and khakis, on to a party boat carrying the Clean Bandit trio and guests.

The video premièred on YouTube on January 29 and has since amassed 1.4 million views.

The Boombastic singer also lent his Jamaican sound to country singer Niko Moon, whose single, Good Time, reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

In the remix, Shaggy sings of life on the island, a compliment to Moon’s country life in the United States.

The single was released just a week ago.
