Irvin Forbes, a veteran journalist who was instrumental in shaping CVM Television's former flagship programme, Newswatch, has left the station. He spent his last day in office on Monday after 20 years with the company.

"I enjoyed working with a newsroom that I considered bold and very passionate about news. There have been ups and downs, but for the most part, I enjoyed working with the people that I did. I worked with some really talented, passionate, and energetic people," said Forbes.

The award-winning journalist added that 2007 was his most memorable and rewarding year. "There was a general election in that year, local government (election), and also a natural disaster (Hurricane Dean). Jennifer Grant and I were leading the news team. With guts and heart we pulled off creditable performances with those three major events," added the former managing editor.

He also cited his documentary on the life of the late Reverend Glen Archer as another meaningful project.

The St Mary High School alumnus disclosed that he is on a hiatus for now but that he is still interested in journalism and teaching. Forbes holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication from The University of the West Indies.
