Body believed to be that of missing American found in shallow grave

Police investigators are now in Green Island, Hanover preparing to exhume a body from a shallow grave.

The body is believed to be that of 72-year-old American Nancy Hardy, who went missing from her home in Negril, Westmoreland on Saturday.

Hardy, who is originally from Amherst in Massachusetts in the United States, lived in Phase Three in Whitehall, Negril.

She was discovered missing by a friend who went to visit her about 10 a.m on Saturday.

A search was carried out and Hardy was not found.

Yesterday afternoon, a resident of Green Island, Hanover stumbled upon what appeared to be a shallow grave in bushes in the community and went to investigate.

The partially covered body of a woman was seen and the police alerted.
