According to the allegations, the pastor began having sex with the women in 2014 after telling them that they were possessed by demons and needed a special kind of healing.

A pastor accused of repeatedly having sex with two members of his congregation in order to ‘heal’ them of demons was today offered bail on rape charges.

On May 20, Bishop Winston Campbell, 56, was arrested and charged with two counts of rape.

He was today offered bail in the St Catherine Parish Court in the amount of $2 million and ordered to suspend all preaching activities until the case is completed.

According to the allegations, the pastor began having sex with the women in 2014 after telling them that they were possessed by demons and needed a special kind of healing.

The women, who were both 26 years old at the time, reported that they accompanied Campbell to a guesthouse located on Port Henderson Road, more popular known as ‘Back Road’, in St Catherine and engaged in sexual activities in order to get rid of their demons.

He allegedly had other encounters up to some time in 2018.

In applying for bail, Peter Champagnie QC, one of Campbell’s attorneys, noted that there was no claim by the prosecutor that the women were suffering from any mental illness and were of sound mind and discretion.

As a result, Champagnie questioned the truthfulness of their accounts.

Attorney-at-law Kemar Robinson, who also represents Campbell, pointed out that the women did not make a report to the police until earlier this year.

The clergyman is scheduled to return to court in July 15.
