Hoping for a better year

The year 2016 was another bitter one for Jamaica. Hell broke loose.

Crime and violence ruled. Traffic crash fatalities again surpassed targets. Domestic disputes increasingly got out of hand with women being killed by jealous men. So, we certainly have a death crisis in this country.

In this new year we have an opportunity to turn things around. Yes, 2017 can be different. If we would only put on our thinking caps and let good sense prevail things could be better.

I am calling upon all who have in the past been contributing to crime and violence, to put away the guns, the knives and the machetes, and instead seek peace.

Finally, to the many young girls who appear to be in a mad rush to enter into love affairs,  please, slow down. Take time to find out what kind of men are courting you and if they are worthy. Unfortunately, in these times, this is a matter of life and death. Get to know people before going too far with them.
